Double-resonance frequency shift in a hydrogen maser
We use the dressed-atom formalism to calculate the frequency shift in a hydrogen maser induced by applied radiation near the Zeeman frequency, and find excellent agreement with a previous calculation made in the bare-atom basis. The maser oscillates on the DF51, DmF50 hyperfine transition, while the applied field is swept through the F51, DmF561 Zeeman resonance. We determine the effect of the ...
متن کاملDiscovery of molecular hydrogen line emission associatedwith methanol maser
We report the discovery of H 2 line emission associated with 6.67 GHz methanol maser emission in massive star forming regions. In our UNSWIRF/AAT observations , H 2 1{0 S(1) line emission was found associated with an ultracompact HII region IRAS 14567{5846 and isolated methanol maser sites in G318.95{0.20, IRAS 15278{ 5620 and IRAS16076{5134. Due to the lack of radio continuum in each source, e...
متن کاملA Study to Identify Hydrogen Maser Failure Modes ' ~
Technical problem areas are presented that may adversely affect the reliability of extended spaceborne operation of a hydrogen maser frequency standard in the Navstar Global Positioning System. Included are failures that have occurred in past maser designs even though such failures are now understood and could be circumvented in future designs. It is concluded that all the failure mechanisms ar...
متن کاملMaser Theory
This review covers some of the developments in basic theory of astronomical masers over the past ten years. Topics included are the effects of three dimensional geometry and polarization, with special emphasis on the differences between maser and non-maser radiation. 1. Maser Absorption Coefficient in Three Dimensions The absorption coefficient κ describes the coupling between particles and rad...
